Amritsar Sahib, Punjab (KP) - Representatives of several Panthic Organizations expressed outrage and shock after they learned about the suspicious nature of the custodial death of Sohan Singh, alias, Sohanjeet Singh in the Amritsar Interrogation Center on March 14th.
Khalsa Action Committee members, Mohkam Singh, Kanwarpal Singh, Harpal Singh Cheema directly blamed the Punjab Police for Sohan Singh’s death. The victim was arrested early March in similar mysterious circumstances under the suspicions of being a member of the Khalistan Commando Force.
Manminder Singh, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) stated that the victim was lodged in the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) Centre in Amritsar, and that he had committed “suicide.”
Panthic observers, along with his family members state that the concocted story of suicide is a mere coverup. His widow Bhinder Kaur squarely blamed her husband’s death on police torture, and stated that he was too strong willed to even consider the thought of suicide.
In the meantime, the Khalra Mission Organization has demanded an independent inquiry into the death of Sohan Singh. Mission Chairman, Kirpal Singh, also demanded action against Assistant Inspector General Manminder Singh of SSOC.
