Shaheed Satwant Singh and Bibi Surinder Kaur
Kotli Soorat Malli, Punjab (KP) – The Eighteenth martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh Ji, Bhai Kehar Singh Ji and Bhai Beant Singh Ji and sixth demise anniversary of Bibi Surinder Kaur (wife of Bhai Satwant Singh Ji) was recently observed here at the local Gurdwara Sahib of Village Agwan (native village of Bhai Satwant Singh Ji). The whole smagam was co-ordinated under Khalsa spirits to commemorate the lives of Shaheeds who gave their lives for seva of the Khalsa Panth. These three Singhs were responsible for bringing Indira Gandhi to justice.
After the bhog of Akhand Path Sahib, kirtan seva was done by various raagi jathas, including the Jathas of: Bhai Kuldeep Singh Ji (Hazoori Raagi Sri Harmandir Sahib), Bhai Baljinder Singh Ji (Damdami Taksal), Bhai Gurnaam Singh Ji (Kallanor), and Bhai Jaswinder Singh Ji (local Hazoori Ragi Jatha).
Many Panthic personalities including Singh Sahib Giani Gurbhachan Singh Ji, Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Ji, Singh Sahib Giani Jaswinder Singh Ji (Sri Harmandir Sahib). Bhai Mohkam Singh (Damdami Taksali), Daljit Singh Bittu (Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar), Karnail Singh (Peer Mohammed Federation), Nirmal Singh Kahlo (former development minister), and Nihang Baba Mann Singh and Nihang Baba Deep Singh were also present there and held their views towards the need to upkeep the spirit of Sikh Shaheeds. Family members of the Shaheeds were also honored with siropaas and plaques. Families of other Shaheeds were also present at the smagam.
Bhai Satwant Singh Ji’s father - Bhai Tirlok Singh also addressed the sangat and expressed his gratitude towards everyone who was in attendance. He and Bibi Pyar Kaur (mother of Bhai Satwant Singh Ji) were especially honored by Bhai Karnail Singh of Peer Mohammed Federation who presented them with a memento.
Similar smagams in commemoration of the Shaheeds were also held in other parts of Punjab and other countries were Sikh Sangat congregated to hold prayers in their memory. A program was also held on a large scale at Gurdwara Jhanda Bunga Sahib (Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar) where Akhand Path Sahib was organized. Kirtan seva was done by Bhai Harminder Singh Ji (Hazoori Raagi Jatha Sri Harmandir Sahib). Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti was also present at the bhog. He addressed the Sangat and asked the Sikh Youth to walk on the path of the Shaheeds and do seva for the Khalsa Panth.
