Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab - At a thin gathering, Atinderpal Singh, former Member Parliament and President of Shiromani Akali Dal International, while addressing a conference of his party at Shaheedi Jor Mela said, that Sikhs wanted to have Khalistan within the Indian territory. He also stated that the UN had given approval for having Khalistan, and now people should support his party for forming Khalistan.

He clarified that Sikhs will not have Khalistan through the use of bullets, but will only try to get it through the support of the people. He asked public to vote for his party in the coming elections so that the dream of forming Khalistan for the Sikhs may be achieved. He said that his party has been trying to coordinate with various political parties including Simranjit Singh Mann led Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Prem Singh Chandumajra led Shiromani Akali Dal, Paramjit Singh Sarna led Akali Dal Delhi and Shiromani Khalsa Panchyat to unite on one platform for getting Khalistan, but that these parties have not given any support to his party.  Therefore, his party had decided not to cooperate with any of these factions in the near future. 

He said that Sikhs had been looted for the last several years and are being defamed by the BJP and Congress as militants and fundamentalists. On this occasion, some resolutions were also adopted during the conference. As per these resolutions, today's gathering resolves that any attempt to install any other Granth parallel to Sri Guru Granth Sahib will be totally opposed.  The resolution appealed that Sikh Sangat should ignore Dasam Granth, give it no importance and follow the directions passed against Dasam Granth earlier.

It was also that all Sikhs should support Khalistan through democratic means and support the Khalistan through Punjab Assembly so that such a nation could be formed, where the Khalistani ideology could be propagated and developed.

Editor's Note:  Statements such as the one given above by Atinderpal Singh suggest that current day 'Khalistani' politicians have no understanding about the basis of this Sikh Nationalist Movement. Furthermore, by blindly rejecting the Bani of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, they also reject the ideals and foundations of the Khalsa itself.  Perhaps it is no surprise that their supporters in the western countries are often collude with pro-Kala Afghani elements.
